Stella Sandoval (Roof)

Stella Jean Sandoval Roof

May 13, 1948 ~ June 26, 2018

Stella J. Roof was born May 13, 1948 in Tucson, Arizona.

Upon graduation from Tucson High School in 1967, she worked for a short time before marrying Harry Roof on July 1, 1972.  They raised two children in Tucson.

Her husband's work relocated the family to Aurora, Colorado.  That’s when they traveled to Hawaii, England, and Wales.  Her husband was again transferred to San Antonio, Texas.  That brought additional travel which she enjoyed:  Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and many cities throughout the United States.  Once again, work required them to move to Commerce City, Colorado where they retired close to their children and grandchildren.

Stella passed away at her home where she wanted to remain the last days of her life after a decline in health.

Stella enjoyed being creative.  She was handy in various forms of needlework such as crochet, needlepoint, and cross-stitch, and she created beautiful Indian pottery.

As a member of the Daughters of the Nile, Stella volunteered her time with Job's Daughters and was an active officer of the Newcomers Group in San Antonio.  She also worked on her family ancestry.

She is survived by her husband, Harry Roof; children, Kirsten Mayer (Daniel Mayer) and Eric Roof; sister, Ellen Gomez (Pete); and grandchildren, Jordan DeBoer, Hope DeBoer, and Travis Deford.
