Danny Leon

Daniel Noriega Leon

March 10, 1947 ~ May 21, 2024

Daniel (Danny) Noriega Leon, age 77, passed away peacefully at home with his family on May 21, 2024.  After attending Tucson High School, Danny joined the Army, served his country, and was a Vietnam Veteran.

He married Lydia "Lilly" Robles (1949–2011), also a THS graduate, raised a family, and worked as a tile setter by trade.  He was later active in working with children in the educational setting and gave back to his fellow veterans while employed at the Veterans Hospital.

Danny is preceded in death by his son, Oscar Leon; granddaughter, Lilliana Aguilar; sister, Judy Noriega; mother, Lilia Preciado; and father, Jose Leon.

Danny is survived by his life partner of 31 years, Beatriz Pain, and his children, Sylvia Leon (Alberto), Jose Leon (Cindy), Carlos Leon, and Daniel Leon (Mireya); his stepchildren, Maria, Annette, and Denise, 22 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Danny was a beloved Tío, Niño, and father figure to so many, and he was always willing to open his heart and home while instilling the value of hard work, honesty, and most of all, integrity.

Danny enjoyed his horses, watching boxing, western movies, and gymnastics; he greatly appreciated the outdoors and took pride in all he had accomplished.  Danny loved his family wholeheartedly and would say, “A family that sticks together goes a long way together.”  He had a way with words and loved to tell stories of his youth and the many adventures he experienced. He had a great love for babies—you better believe he was eager to give love and affection!  He had such an amazing impact on his grandchildren that regardless of what anyone said, they always responded with, "But Tata said!" and that was the end of the story.

Danny’s memory and legacy will continue to live on through his family, including everyone he touched.  He will be dearly missed by all those who loved him.

Visitation, Prayer Service, and Military Honors:  Friday, June 7, 2024.
