Federico Thomas Valdenegro

March 6, 1949 ~ July 15, 2023

Tucson native Federico T. Valdenegro was born on March 6, 1949 and passed away on July 15, 2023 at the age of 74.  

"Freddie" graduated from Tucson High School in 1967 and shortly afterwards enlisted in the United States Navy as a hospital corpsman “Doc."  He deployed to Vietnam in 1970 and served with Lima Company, 3rd Battalion, 7th Marines where he earned the Bronze Star with Combat “V” and the Purple Heart.  He retired after 20 years of honorable service. 

On June 16, 2012, Federico received the Sacred Order of Diaconate with the Diocese of Tucson and was formally appointed to diaconal ministry at St. Margaret Mary’s Parish. 

Federico was preceded in death by his youngest daughter, Manuela Valdenegro Salazar.  He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Wilma Valdenegro; step-daughter, Marilou McCullah (Jeff); son, Marcelino Valdenegro (Phyllis); and grandchildren, Andrew Salazar (Kylie), Maihalani Valdenegro (Seth), Jasmine Salazar (Colin), Roselani Valdenegro (Adrian), and Marcelino Valdenegro Jr. 

All services in Tucson, Arizona, on Monday, July 24, 2023.  Rosary:  10:00 a.m. at St. Margaret Mary Alacoque Roman Catholic Church, 801 N. Grande Avenue  85745.  Mass to follow at 10:30 a.m.  Interment:  12:00 noon at Holy Hope Cemetery, 3555 N. Oracle Road  85705.  Arrangements by Carrillo's Tucson Mortuary, Inc.
