William Boyd

William Boyd

William Nelson Boyd

February 14, 1949 ~ October 1, 2017

William (Bill) Boyd died peacefully surrounded by family in Tucson, Arizona, on October 1, 2017 at the age of 68.  He fought a courageous battle against the horrible disease ALS.

Bill is survived by his spouse of 46 years, Chaluay (Noi); his son, Michael (Stacie); daughter, Susan (Sean); and his five grandchildren, Ellen, Mikayla, Brody, Jake and Alora, who were his true joy in life.  He is also survived by three sisters, Sherry, Ann, and Patty, and by many nephews and nieces.  Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ann DeJong Boyd of Tucson, Arizona.

Bill was born on February 14, 1949 in Hammond, Indiana.  He graduated from Tucson High School in 1967.  He proudly served our country as a B52 mechanic in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.  While stationed at U-Tapao Air Base, Thailand, he met the love of his life, Noi.  They were married in Thailand in 1971.

Bill spent many years working for the University of Arizona where he retired as a facilities management supervisor.  His favorite things to do (outside of drinking beer and Crown Royal) were fishing, photography, learning about the cosmos, and watching Tucson's beautiful lightning storms.  He was a die-hard Arizona Wildcat fan and will always be remembered as an unapologetic bad ass.  He will be greatly missed.

Graveside service:  Arizona Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Marana, Friday, October 6, 2022 at 12:00 noon.
