In Memory

Danny Saxon

Danny Saxon

Daniel William Saxon

May 31, 1949 ~ April 8, 2022

Daniel William Saxon, 72, of Tucson, Arizona, passed away on April 8, 2022 surrounded by family and friends.  His death was due to complications with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), lung cancer, and pneumonia.

Born on May 31, 1949, Danny lived an adventurous and spirited life.  An intelligent and street-smart young man, he treasured sports from an early age.  His passion as a player and his keen analytical mind made him a natural umpire, a profession he spent 20+ years in.  He was especially social whether he was bowling, working the register at Circle K, or singing at the local bar.  He always had a wealth of stories to pull from, and he was proud of his encyclopedic knowledge of movies, TV, and sports.

Daniel was preceded in death by his mother (Orreane Saxon), father (William Saxon), and sister (Jacque Thrasher).  He is survived by his other three sisters (Bonnie Harper, Billie King, and Lori Trout).  He was blessed with four children (Daniel Saxon Jr., Joie Lookenott, Michael Saxon, and Eric Saxon) and  five grandchildren (Tony Saxon, Destiny Howell, Leon Howell, Zach Lookenott Jr., and Samantha Saxon).

A celebration of Danny's life will be held at 3pm, Sunday, June 5, 2022 at Ramada 28 in Reid Park (formerly and affectionately known as Randolph Park).  Ramada 28 is near the baseball fields.

Please send any cards or flowers to 1605 N. Sonoita Ave, Tucson, AZ, 85712.  Fond memories and expressions of sympathy for the Saxon family may also be shared at the following website:

Photo is of Danny at Julia Keen Elementary with our City Champ football team in 1961. We played more baseball together, including until we were around 30. Regrettably, I rarely saw Danny in later years. Despite his tough exterior, Danny was a sweet guy who was always loyal to his friends. I’ll miss him.
