I didn't get to know Roberta well, but she was in my English class with Mr. Wagner, and I enjoyed what time I did have with her.  Roberta didn't make it to graduation with us.  She was in a car that went off the cliff at Gates Pass.  It was an early and shocking reminder of how short and how precious life is.  Roberta, you're still part of us.

Bobbie was one of my best friends in high school. I really had a hard time with her death. I still have her picture in my box of high school photos.

She was the first of us to go. Not the most well known, not part of any particular crowd, but I have never forgotten her...

Roberta and I had been friends since junior high at Townsend.  She had a bubbly personality and a lot of hope for the future.  I think of her every time I drive over Gates Pass.

I got to know Bobbi during our Junior year as we were both on the staff of the Quarterly THS magazine. Her bubbly personality and sense of humor spread happiness among the staff. IIn April 1966 she had just been named Literary Editor for our upcoming senior year, when suddenly we learned she had died in a car wreck on Gates Pass. I believe a boyfriend of her mom had taken her for an evening ride in his MG sports car and it spun out on a curve. We were shocked to our core to deal with the death of someone our own age.

Her mom sent us a kind note and enclosed an article she had been writing. We went ahead and published it posthumously. It was about an elephant whose time it was to die, that was shepherded by a butterfly to its resting place. This gave us chills and it still does when I think of it today. Bobbi is well-remembered.
