These aren't all my memories of Art.  I've I.D.d the actual commenters from a Facebook post by Albert Pesquiera.

"Happy Birthday to my childhood buddy, Art Monje. We were in 1st grade, middle school, high school (THS), and college roommates @ AZ Western JC in Yuma. I have the best memories of Art and we had a lot of fun together. RIP my friend." - Albert P

"I can't think of the fun of THS sports without being thankful for having the opportunity to hike to Art in football and to catch Art's pitches in baseball!
In football there are no what ifs for me, but in baseball I can't help wondering "What if neither Art nor I had gotten hurt as seniors?" Great friend and great sense of humor." - Ron C

"The most underrated QB of his time....great person and valued teammate. On a team based on running Art proved each and every time we had to pass he was the man." - Keith Ritchie

"I remember also playing sandlot baseball as kids on 21st street. Art, Bo Lopez, Ernie Fimbres, you Al, Kent, Rudy Diaz, the brothers from across the street and a few others, in the heat of the day. Them were the days. How we wound up at AWC unplanned. Yes, those were the days." - Art Cordoba

The summer after graduation Art and I worked together at a summer rec program at Carrillo School.  We were paid $1.45/hour, which seemed like a fortune in 1967.  I remember how much the kids loved Art, and would come running up to him when we got there in the morning.  He was quiet and calm with them, and really connected.
