John Robert Brooks

July 23, 1949 ~ May 22, 2009

John Robert Brooks, age 59, of Monahans, Texas, passed away on Friday, May 22, 2009 at Medical Center Hospital of Odessa, Texas.  He was born in Tucson, Arizona, to Charles S. Brooks and Henrietta Locke (Griffes) Brooks on July 23, 1949.  He married Donna Jean Emerson on July 14, 1972 in Perkins, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death in 2003.  He served in the National Guard and worked as a cab driver.

He is survived by two children:  Bryan Charles Brooks of Tucson, Arizona, and Carrie Custer of Monahans, Texas; one brother:  Dan Brooks of Glendale, Arizona; and three grandchildren.

Memorial services will be 3:00 pm Friday, May 29, 2009 at First Baptist Church in Monahans, Texas.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel, 8115 W. University, Odessa, Texas  79764, 432-381-9000.
